About Lucy Bird Quilting

My story

The name Lucy Bird Quilting came from my pets: my cat, Lucy Belle, and my cherished birds. I wanted a business name that wasn’t just my own and reflected what I love.

I got into quilting in 2012 when a friend taught me how to hem my pants. We met every Thursday at The Bobbin Case on Monroe Ave to sew, chat, and laugh. My first machine was my mom's Kenmore, and later, friends gifted me a Singer and a Bernina, which fueled my love for sewing. Eventually, I got a job at Jackie Lynns Quilt Shop, where I truly refined my skills.

Today, I sew daily on my Brother Quattro and take my Janome 3160 on the go. After getting married, my husband encouraged me to dive fully into quilting. I invested in a Handi Quilter Avante and a Brother Airflow 3000 to take my work to the next level. Lucy Bird Quilting is my way to share this passion and create meaningful quilts for others.

“When I received my quilts back in a very timely manner I had a couple of wonderful surprises! They were beautifully quilted, trimmed and squared for me! The extra fabric and batting was neatly folded and returned to me. Both quilts were gifts and the recipients were ecstatic! Thank you for your professionalism."
